Starting today, over one week after Duncan Laurence won the Eurovision Song Contest in Tel Aviv, interested host cities and regions can now officially indicate their interest to the organization. The 2020 Eurovision Song Contest will be hosted in cooperation between NPO, AVROTROS and NOS, in a co-production together with EBU (European Broadcasting Union). These parties will be jointly responsible for the organization of the event.
One of the key success factors for a successful Eurovision Song Contest is the host city. In the next few weeks, the organization ESC2020 The Netherlands will give cities/regions the opportunity to indicate their interest. The criteria for a host city and venue are now being identified. The selection process for the host city is as follows:
- First half of June: all cities/regions that have indicated their interest will receive a document from the organization listing the criteria for a host city and venue in order to qualify for hosting the 2020 Eurovision Song Contest. Based on that, cities/regions will be invited to submit a bid book.
- First half of July: opportunity for cities/regions to submit their bid book to the organization of the 2020 Eurovision Song Contest. This means that cities/regions will have four weeks to prepare a bid book.
